Fully Threaded Rod
Continuous external threads for assemblies that need adjustment along the rod length, through fastening or a specified cut length.
| Thread callout | Specify metric or inch system, diameter and pitch |
|---|---|
| Overall length | State cut length and allowed variation |
| Material and finish | Specify grade and surface treatment separately |
| End condition | Specify chamfer, deburring and thread-start requirements |
What to specify when ordering
Call out the thread system and full size before specifying cut length. Provide mating hardware information and flag assemblies where both ends must start smoothly after trimming or coating.
State how lengths should be identified in packaging and whether nuts or washers must ship as kits. Treat the assembly design and its load requirements as part of the inquiry.

Frequently asked questions
Can I request cut-to-length rods?
Specify each finished length, tolerance and quantity. Include any chamfer and deburring requirements so the cut ends can be reviewed with the mating nuts.
Can metric and inch threads be mixed?
Use the same thread system, diameter and pitch for the rod and mating hardware. Similar-looking threads can bind or fail to engage correctly.
What is the difference between all-thread and a double-end stud?
All-thread has continuous external threads. A double-end stud usually has a plain section between its threaded ends. Mark the required geometry on the drawing.
What information is needed for load-bearing use?
Provide the required standard, grade, application loads, engagement length and inspection requirements. Confirm suitability for the complete assembly before ordering.
