A practical starting point for lightweight components.

Material selection is part of the complete component specification. Share the application, exact grade if mandatory, expected environment, finishing requirements and the features that must remain controlled.
Properties vary by alloy and condition. Use the relevant material specification and application review to establish acceptance criteria.

Send the current drawing or model, material and finish, required quantity, critical dimensions and your target delivery date. If a detail is still open, identify it so it can be discussed.
Describe the purpose of the prototype and the expected production quantity. Sample scope, tooling, inspection and any later production route should be agreed before an order.
Specify the required grade, condition or temper, stock form and finished-part requirements. Include the operating environment and proposed manufacturing process. If you are considering an alternative, request it as a separate option for review rather than authorizing an unspecified substitution.
Identify the document, test or batch-traceability requirement before ordering. Ask which records are available for the proposed material and agree on the scope in the quotation. A general material name or website photograph does not establish a certified grade.
